“Guidelines for Masticatory Function”
This program features important guidelines that the dentist must know in
order to treatment plan patients with occlusal and esthetic problems. How
the patient chews, (the chewing envelope), how tooth wear progresses and
affects the selection of the proper restorative materials, why balancing
side tooth contacts should rarely be adjusted, and critical restorative
treatment suggestions are included. (These guidelines must be a part of every graduate program in Prosthodontics and General Practice Residency).
“Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of the Worn
Dentition.”
This program addresses the principal causes of tooth wear and the
questionable diagnosis of “abfractive lesions due to tooth bending forces.”
The most frequently misdiagnosed restorative problem, “Dento-alveolar
Extrusion,” is introduced as well as important guidelines required to
diagnose patients with OVD problems and other, more complex tooth wear
problems. The indications for splint therapy for pain disorders and the use
of splints for advanced rehabilitation procedures is included.
“Guidelines for Treatment Planning Esthetic Procedures”
Important clinical guidelines required to diagnose anatomical as well as
dental esthetic problems are addressed in this program. Plastic Surgery and
Dental Guidelines are included together in a simple and straight forward
examination procedure. These esthetic guidelines are related to valuable
principles of occlusion that every esthetic dentist must know.
“Treatment Planning: Clinical Presentations and Interdisciplinary
Therapy”
Clinical patients are presented with occlusal and esthetic problems in a
question and answer format. The “Tanaka Treatment Planning Questionnaire,”
which includes the “Facial Analysis” is used to guide the clinician through
the decision making process as patients who require orthognathic surgery and
vertical, horizontal and transverse problems are presented and treated in a
step-by step presentation. (Another excellent teaching aid for Study Groups)
